The centerpiece is the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration. These awards recognize districts and organizations across three categories: holistic development of districts, the Aspirational Blocks Programme, and innovation in public administration.

In 2025, the 17th edition of the day saw 16 officers honored under these categories. Each award includes a trophy, a citation, and Rs 20 lakh to support development work in the winning district.

For the 2026 edition, over 2,000 nominations were received, with close to 95 percent of India’s districts participating. That scale alone shows how seriously states now take this recognition.
